On October 3, Hanoi city Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism held a press briefing on activities to mark the 59th anniversary of the capital's liberation.
Accordingly, a festival featuring the tourism products of traditional craft villages of Hanoi and Red River Delta provinces will take place from October 12 -18. During the festival, a seminar to discuss the current situation and measures for tourism development in craft villages and craft streets of Hanoi will also be held, with the participation of scientists, policy-makers, tourism companies, and international organizations such as the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the Netherlands Development Organization (SNV). Hanoi has planned to develop six traditional craft villages into tourist destinations to attract domestic and international tourists from now until 2015.
There will be an exhibition on Thang Long royal citadel and Ho Dynasty citadel; Hanoimoi newspaper racing contest for peace; the capital technical equipment fair 2013; artistic photo festival; exhibitions on the capital fine arts, maps and documents about Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos; and a music festival to mark the 40th founding anniversary of Vietnam - France diplomatic ties.
On October 9-10, art and circus performances will take place in stages at districts around Hanoi.
