Van Don strives to receive over 720,000 tourists in 2014

An estimated 344,000 tourists visited Van Don district, the northern province of Quang Ninh in the first four months of this year, fulfilling 47 percent of the year’s target and a year-on-year rise of 36 percent.

Currently, the district has 104 tourism businesses with 1,284 rooms, far higher than the 2013 figures. Average room occupancy reached 38 percent. It has 54 boats with 33 wood boats and 21 high-speed boats, providing transport services for tourists to islands.

Van Don strives to reach 723,000 tourist arrivals in 2014, in which foreign national arrivals are expected to be 15,000. Turnover from tourism is expected to reach VND390 billion and social revenue from tourism is expected to rise 1.5 fold over the previous year.

The district is attempting to develop tourism as a spear-head economic industry in the near future.
