UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site Hoi An, in the central city of Da Nang, was once again crowned Asia’s Leading Cultural City Destination at the World Travel Awards (WTA) 2025 ceremony recently held in Bahrain.

The ancient town secured the prestigious title for the fifth consecutive year, reaffirming its timeless charm and its standing as one of the region’s most captivating cultural hubs.
Hoi An surpassed six other nominated cities across Asia to secure the award, further strengthening its status as a cultural icon. Recognized by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage site, the town has long been celebrated for its timeless architectural beauty, atmospheric lantern-lit streets, and unique blend of indigenous and international influences shaped over centuries of maritime trade.
In recent years, Hoi An has welcomed an average of 5 million international visitors annually, an impressive testament to its global allure.
Its harmonious combination of culture, cuisine, landscape, and community-based tourism continues to draw travelers seeking authentic experiences in Vietnam.
Vietnam’s tourism industry also achieved significant success at the 2025 WTA. The country was named World’s Leading Heritage Destination and World’s Leading Natural Island Destination.
Moc Chau claimed the title of World’s Leading Regional Nature Destination, Tam Dao was honored as the World’s Leading Town Destination, and Dong Van Karst Plateau (Tuyen Quang) was recognized as the World’s Leading Cultural Destination.
Established in 1993, the World Travel Awards are considered one of the most prestigious honors in global travel, often referred to as the “Oscars of Tourism”.
The continued recognition of Hoi An and Vietnam underscores the nation’s rising position on the world tourism map and highlights its rich cultural and natural assets.
With its five-year winning streak, Hoi An not only celebrates a milestone but also reinforces its standing as a must-visit destination for travelers seeking history, beauty and authentic cultural immersion in the heart of Asia.
