It’s the classic Robin to Batman of local food; fish sauce has long been the unsung hero. Love it or hate it, fish sauce is the soul of Vietnamese cuisine. If you don’t find a tiny bowl of nuoc mam next to the local dish you are served, there’s a good chance that it has already been included in the food during cooking as a key component.
The World Records Union (Worldkings) has announced the list of top 100 famous food and beverages from countries all over the world, including ‘pho’ (noodles served with beef or chicken), ‘bun cha’ (rice noodles served with grilled pork) and ‘banh mi’ (Vietnamese sandwich).
The Asian Records Organisation (ARO) has included ten more Vietnamese culinary specialties in its latest Asian Records listings.
