(TITC) – On Sept. 21st 2015, the Ha Noi People’s Committee held a ceremony to announce the Decisions on establishment of the Department of Tourism of Ha Noi City.
The department is a specialized agency under the City's People's Committee, with its tourism management functions transfered from the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism – which is now renamed Department of Culture and Sports.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen The Thao, Chairman of Ha Noi People’s Committee, said in the recent years, tourism has been identified an important economic sector and has significant contribution to the economic restructuring of the City. The number of international tourists to Ha Noi averagely increased by around 10% per year since 2010. In 2014, Ha Noi welcomed 15.4 million domestic trippers and over 3 million international arrivals.
The establishment of the Department of Tourism will boost the efficiency of state management in the field of tourism, tourist product development, effective use of tourism resources and contribute to turn tourism into a key driver for socio-economic progress in the coming time, he emphasized.
Ha Noi is the second city establishing Department of Tourism after Ho Chi Minh City.
