Update: Jan 05, 2016
As many as 46,448 tourists visited the central province of Quang Nam during January 1-3, a year-on-year increase of 20.6 percent.

Of the number, foreign arrivals were counted up to 32,915, while domestic visitors reached 13,533.

The UNESCO-recognised Hoi An ancient town and My Son Sanctuary were the most attractive destinations for foreign and domestic tourists during the occasion.

According to Director of the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Dinh Hai, his agency coordinated with localities to diversify tourism products to lure more arrivals to the province, thus promoting sustainable tourism development.

With its two World Heritage sites - the Hoi An ancient town and the My Son Sanctuary, along with a 125-km long coastline with many beautiful beaches, Quang Nam has attracted a large number of tourists every year.

Hoi An recently has designated Nguyen Phuc Chu walking street, drawing a large number of tourists.

In 2012, Hoi An was shortlisted for the top ten Asian cities in the US-magazine Conde Nast's Traveler's Readers Choice Awards. The following year, the UNESCO-recognised world heritage was chosen for the Townscape Award by the UN-Habitat Regional Office in Asia.

Meanwhile, My Son Sanctuary, once the religious and political capital of the Champa Kingdom, comprises eight groups of 71 monuments built throughout the 7th-13th centuries.

The first construction of My Son dated back to the 4th century under the reign of Bhadravarman for the worship of God Shiva-Bhadresvara. But later on, the temple was destroyed.
