(TITC) - In the framework of ASEAN Tourism Forum 2016 in Philippines, on 19 January 2016, VNAT’s delegation led by Deputy Director General Ha Van Sieu attended the 6th ASEAN - Russia Federation Tourism Consultation.
At the meeting, the ASEAN Secretariat presented highlights of the ASEAN - Russian Federation tourism cooperation consultation in Nay Pyi Taw (Myanmar) on 24 January 2015; Russia delegation reported the implementation progress of the ASEAN – Russia Joint Project of “Russian Language Training Course for ASEAN Tour Operators” held in Cambodia. The delegations also considered new proposals in framwork of ASEAN - Russian Federation tourism cooperation.
Viet Nam and Russian Federation signed a cooperation agreement on tourism since 1997, which offered favorable conditions to boost tourism development in both countries. Viet Nam regularly attended international fairs in Russia, especially Moscow International Travel & Tourism Exhibition (MITT) and organized Viet Nam Cultural Days in Russia. Russia has become a key source market of Viet Nam, in terms of length of stay and tourist expenditure. In 2015, Russian tourist arrivals to Viet Nam reached 338,843, up 13 times over 2006 (26,000 tourist arrivals).
