(TITC) – On 4 May 2016, Director General of Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT), Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan had a meeting with Head of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Ha Noi, Mr. Shi Rui Qi.
Highly valueing good relationship between Viet Nam and Taiwan, Mr. Shi Rui Qi indicated that two sides has effectively implemented many cooperation activities in tourism field in terms of investment, promotion, human resource training, information exchange and product development.
Mr. Shi Rui Qi informed that the number of Vietnamese tourists to Taiwan grew by 70 percent since Taiwan piloted preferential visa policy for high-end tour groups from Asian emerging markets, including Viet Nam (from 1 Nov 2015). He also proposed Viet Nam to consider visa facilitation by applying e-visa or visa on arrival to increase Taiwanese tourist arrivals to Viet Nam.
Speaking at the meeting, Director General Nguyen Van Tuan confirmed that travel facilitation has always been one of the priorities in Viet Nam’s tourism policy, including visa procedures.
For fostering tourists exchange between Viet Nam and Taiwan, the two sides should continue to cooperate in expanding air connections between Viet Nam and Taiwan as well as improving air services; organizing tourism promotion activities; raising liability of international tour operators in managing their clients abroad. In the coming time, Viet Nam will develop quality tourism products in conformity with the taste and demand of Taiwanese tourists at destinations.
