In the first and seventh lunar months (usually in February and August) every year, one of the popular vegetarian buffet programs in HCMC is “Sai Gon Vegetarian Dishes” at Metropole Wedding and Convention Center.
With different themes each year, the center chose “Mother” for this year. The theme is sure to remind diners of their childhood associated with the dishes made by their mothers.
The time when one enjoys dishes made by his or her mother has become rare due to the hustle and bustle of modern life.
To respond to this, the dishes at the Metropole are symbolic of a mother’s love and sacrifice for her children. They also remind guests of their mother’s care since their infancy.
With more than 65 vegetarian dishes featuring the gastronomies of the country’s three regions-pork jelly with pickled bean sprouts, Quang Nam-style mixed noodle and bitter melon stuffed soup, to name just a few-the buffet is a treat of flavors to diners, be they mothers, fathers, daughters or sons.
Featuring “Mother” during the Vu Lan (filial piety) season, the Metropole wants to convey a meaningful message about deep gratitude toward parents.
The vegetarian buffet program lasts from August 2 (the 30th of the sixth lunar month) to September 1 (the first of the eighth lunar month) on the second and the fourth floors of the Metropole Wedding and Convention Center.
Lunch buffet is from 11:00am to 1:30pm, with a ticket costing VND200,000 an adult. Dinner buffet lasts from 5:30pm to 9:00pm, with a ticket priced at VND280,000 an adult.
On the full-moon day, the buffet costs VND280,000 an adult for lunch and VND300,000 for dinner. Children under 1.2 meters tall should pay VND120,000 each. Customers buying 10 tickets can get one free.
