Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City Huynh Cach Mang on March 20 hosted a reception for representatives from the Romanian art troupe Doina Gorjului that is performing at the Francophone Week 2017 and the Romania-Viet Nam Friendship Day in the city.

He recalled the wholehearted support that Romanian people gave to Viet Nam during the country’s struggle for independence in the past as well as the current national building and development.

The traditional friendship and partnership as well as cooperation in economy, culture and education among ministries, sectors and localities of both sides are growing, he noted.

Welcoming the Doina Gorjului troupe, Mang held that its performances will help deepen mutual understanding, solidarity and promote diverse cooperation and friendship between the two peoples.

Meanwhile, Valeriu Arteni, Romanian Ambassador to Viet Nam, said that the visit and performance of the art troupe in Ho Chi Minh is part of activities to realise a cultural cooperation between the two countries that was reached during the Viet Nam visit of Romanian Prime Minister Dacian Ciolos in 2016.

The diplomat said that performances of the Doina Gorjului art troupe featuring traditional culture of Romania are among efforts of the country to strengthen cultural and art exchange and deepen the solidarity of Vietnamese and Romanian people as well as promoting local affiliation within the Francophone community.

Earlier, the troupe also performed in Ha Noi.
