The Da Nang Paragliding Open 2017, themed “Flying over Tien Sa”, kicked off in the central coastal city of Da Nang on June 24.

Organised by the municipal Department of Culture and Sports, the race attracted 100 fliers from clubs nationwide and from the Republic of Korea, South Africa, the US, the UK, Australia, and Laos.
The fliers competed in accurate landing category for single and duo. They took off at Son Tra Peninsula, regarded as one of the most spectacular flying sites in Viet Nam.
The opening ceremony featured a special paramotor performance, which also entertained tourists coming for the “Da Nang - Summer Rendezvous” programme and Da Nang International Fireworks Festival 2017.
Paragliding has become a popular adrenalin sport in Viet Nam, with increasing number of members joining clubs in Ha Noi, Nha Trang and races in the northern mountainous province of Yen Bai and Da Nang.
