Seminar on preserving and promoting world cultural heritage

The central city of Hue has coordinated with Gyeongju City (RoK) to organize a seminar in the city on preserving and promoting world cultural heritage values.

It is among of activities in the framework of the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Viet Nam and RoK, and 10 years of cooperation between Hue and Gyeongju cities.

Hue and Gyeongju cities have similarities in relics and cultural heritages recognized as world cultural heritage by UNESCO. Therefore, the bilateral cooperation will make great contribution to the preservation and promotion of their world cultural heritages.

Most participants at the seminar said that local people are owners of cultural heritage values. Leaders need to respect people’s ideas and pass suitable policies to preserve and promote cultural values.

Choi Yangsik, Mayor of Gyeongju, said that the city will popularize the image of Hue to its people in particular and Korean people in general. Each year, the city is expected to bring 20,000 local people to Hue to study architecture, culture and people in Hue. In the future, Gyeongju looks to cooperate not only in tourism development, but also in investment.

Chairman of Hue City People’s Committee Nguyen Van Thanh thanked Gyeongju for its help over the past years, especially Mayor of Gyeongju Choi Yangsik’s cooperation over the past ten years. Apart from creating conditions for experts to participate in important events, Gyeongju city also gives support worth USD50,000 each year to help experts and leaders of Hue city to visit RoK to share experiences in cultural heritage preservation.
