(TITC) – On July 5, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism organized press conference to announce remarkable results in the 6 first months of 2018.

Accordingly, the tourism sector performed a variety of activities and recorded positive achievements. International visitors to Viet Nam in this period reached nearly 7.9 million arrivals, rising 27.2% over the same period last year; domestic visitors were about 42.8 million trippers; total tourism receipts estimated VND312,000 billion, representing an increase of 22.5% over 2017.
Notably, many important tasks of the tourism sector were implemented such as solutions to maintain the growth rate in 2018; implementing Government's Action Program on developing tourism into a spearhead economic sector; introducing of Tourism Law 2017; building tourism development strategy to 2030 and vision to 2050; preparing for ASEAN Tourism Forum 2019; boosting tourism promotion activities; co-hosting Viet Nam International Travel Mart Ha Noi 2018 and responding to National Tourism Year 2018; enhancing state management in tourism field; luring tourism investment, etc.
At the press conference, Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) announced Annual Tourism Report 2017 – a useful report providing the overall results of tourism sector in 2017 as well as some key indicators of the sector. Of which, the economic contribution of important source markets of Viet Nam was included in this report for the first time. Also VNAT informed some main outcomes of the survey of international visitors to Viet Nam 2017.
Besides, a VNAT’s website promoting international tourist markets was newly launched at www.vietnam.travel. The website, with the technical support of Tourism Advisory Board (TAB), was designed to inspire travel demand of international visitors.
On the occasion of the 58th anniversary of Viet Nam's tourism sector, VNAT informed about the upcoming ceremony to honor the winners of Viet Nam Tourism Award 2018 which will be held on July 9. At the ceremony, VNAT will collaborate with Lao Dong Newspaper to award the winners of the writing contest “Viet Nam – Timeless Charm”.
