Activities mark Hanoi anniversary
Update: Mar 17, 2009
The authorities and people of Hanoi are implementing a series of activities to mark its 1,000th birthday of Thang Long-Hanoi.

In March, the city will complete the underwater sports zone and make a plan for the Co Loa relics along with approving the Bach Ma and Voi Phuc temples investment projects and the designing of the Quan Thanh Temple.

In addition, Hanoi will perfect a detailed script for 10 days of the millennial anniversary, propose the Prime Minister recognise the Hanoi Citadel as national relics, and make a website on the anniversary.

It will also strive to complete a number of road sections and start building the Crown Plaza within this month.

Hanoi had carried out 25 out of 35 projects marking its anniversary by the end of February.

Thang Long-Ha Noi came into being in the Autumn of 1010 with King Ly Thai To’s Edict on the Transfer of the Capital. Being one of the most ancient capitals in Southeast Asia, this imperial land boasts a continual historic millennium through the Ly, Tran and Le, etc., dynasties to modern Vietnam.
