The Festival of Culture, Sports and Tourism will be held for northwestern ethnic groups from March 27-30, the Lai Chau provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has revealed.

The festival will help consolidate national unity, and preserve the cultural identity of northwestern ethnic groups, he added.

According to Mr. Long, the festival will include a costume show, and a beauty queen contest.

Also, a seminar will be held on the development of tourism in the northwestern region, as well as a fair featuring handicrafts and traditional ethnic musical instruments.

The organising board has registered a Guinness Vietnam record with a ring of more than 1,000 people gathered at the opening of the festival.
