Photo contest launched to promote nation’s frontier building

A photo contest has been launched aiming to promote the nation’s frontier beauty and achievements in building national land borders.

The Lung Cu Flagpole in Dong Van District, the northernmost province of Ha Giang

Themed "Pride in the frontier strip”, the event is co-organised by the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Communications and Education and the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists (VAPA).

The contest targets to affirm successes in implementing the Party, State and localities’ guidelines, as well as their efforts and achievements – especially in the border areas – in the construction of national land borders, contributing to ensure national security - defence as well as social safety and order.

It is also to promote the beauty and potential of Vietnamese border areas.

Lasting from May 2 to September 30 this year, the contest is open to both professional and amateur photographers, as well as Vietnamese citizens, Vietnamese residing abroad and foreigners in Vietnam.

Winners are expected to be announced at an award ceremony and exhibition in November. The organisers will award two first (single photo, set picture), three second, six third and 10 consolation prizes. Each award will receive a corresponding medal, a certificate from the VAPA, along with a cash prize.
