(TITC) This is the common spirit spread in the conference "Tourism industry responding to acute respiratory infections caused by nCoV virus" organized by the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism on February 6, 2020.
The conference took place under the chairmanship of Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Quang Tung, Chairman of Vietnam National Administration of Tourism Nguyen Trung Khanh; the participation of leaders of the Tourism Department of Hanoi, Quang Ninh, Da Nang, Khanh Hoa; leaders of Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air; leaders of large corporations such as Vingroup, Sungroup, Muong Thanh, Saigontourist, Hanoitourist, Vietravel, Benthanhtourist…; leaders of Vietnam Tourism Association, Hotel Association, Travel Association, Tourism Advisory Board (TAB)... and press agencies.
The tourism industry has focused on drastically implementing measures to cope with the nCoV epidemic under the direction of the Government, the Prime Minister, and the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The disease situation of nCOV in the world is still complicated, but in the country, Vietnam is controlling well the epidemic situation, successfully treating some cases of nCoV infection. The measures to respond to the epidemic of Vietnam have been recognized and appreciated by the World Health Organization (WHO), the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).
Aviation, travel were among the earliest and most heavily affected sectors with the immediate decline of international and domestic tourist visitors. However, all delegates expressed the consensus to be calm and proactive in responding to this situation, emphasizing the need to properly assess the impact, the development of each tourism market as well as the situation in each locality, in order to work out appropriate response solutions.
The delegates also highly appreciated the role the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Vietnam Administration of Tourism that promptly provided official information in the world and in Vietnam, the recommendations of the health sector, the directions of the Government, the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, orienting solutions for local and tourism businesses to prevent and fight against nCoV disease.
In particular, at the conference, leaders of airlines, travel businesses have contributed many comments on the practical situation, response experience as well as proposed solutions to restore the industry.
The delegates said that it is necessary to look out for opportunities in the crisis, this is also an opportunity for businesses to consolidate their organization, foster training for staff, upgrade technical facilities, promote application of technology...
Enterprises also emphasized the spirit of sharing, supporting each other in difficulties. At the same time, it is agreed to have a polite, and non-discriminatory treatment with tourists.
Representatives of businesses also proposed management agencies at all levels to have timely solutions to support businesses to offset the damage and restore operations through policies such as exemption from tax and fee reduction, loan rescheduling, loan interest rate reduction, visa fee exemption, support activities to promote, and foster human resources..., supporting small and medium enterprises.
Speaking at the conference, Deputy Minister Le Quang Tung highly appreciated the comments of the participants. He agreed that the general spirit should be calm and not bewildered in response to the nCoV epidemic and said that the World Health Organization has issued a recommendation that limiting travel and tourism activities is not necessary.
The Deputy Minister suggested that in the coming time, it is necessary to continue to enhance communication, provide official information to orient localities and enterprises; find solutions to boost tourism activities, ensuring epidemic prevention and control.
The Deputy Minister assigned the Vietnam Administration of Tourism to receive the opinions of the delegates to complete the plan to cope with nCoV; as well as receove proposals on supporting policies for tourism and aviation businesses to report to the Government for consideration.
