(TITC) - On December 25, conference on "Vietnam tourism - recovery and development" will take place at Cua Lo Town, Nghe An Province. It is organized by the National Assembly's Committee for Culture and Education in collaboration with Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Nghe An Province.
The complicated and prolonged development of the Covid-19 pandemic has directly affected socio-economic activities, in which tourism is one of the industries most heavily affected. For nearly 2 years, international tourism has been closed, domestic tourism has not been able to fully reopen, causing the entire service supply chain for tourism activities to come to a halt. Many tour guides, direct and indirect workers in the industry become unemployed, many travel, transportation, and accommodation businesses run out of resources and have to be dissolved. Although, many solutions have been implemented, the tourism industry is still facing many difficulties, and many bottlenecks need to be removed.
The conference attracts the participation of 20 key tourism provinces and cities such as Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Ha Noi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Thua Thien Hue, Kien Giang, Can Tho… in the form of face-to-face and online. About 300 delegates who are National Assembly deputies, managers, scientists, experts, businesses related to tourism have registered to attend the event.
At the conference, Mr. Zurab Pololikashvili - Secretary General of World Tourism Organization will present global tourism, recovery and development, representatives of WTTC, UNWTO will share lessons from overcoming the Covid-19 crisis to develop tourism.
The delegates also discuss on assessing the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the tourism industry, opportunities and challenges for Vietnam tourism in the current period, orientation and solutions to recover and develop tourism in the coming time.
It is expected to receive specific proposals, priority policies to support the tourism industry to recover and develop in the new situation. Solutions focus on opening tourism safely, applying digital transformation, creating tourism products suitable for new trends, new normal situation.
