Vietnam announces COVID-19 vaccine passport

(TITC) – The Ministry of Health has announced procedures for the issuance of Vietnam’s COVID-19 "vaccine passport" along with the passport templates effective starting December 20, 2021.

The vaccine passports would include holder’s name, date of birth, nationality, targeted disease, type of vaccine, vaccine product, vaccine manufacture, dose, date of vaccination.

The data would be encrypted and presented through a QR code which will be valid for 12 months.

Information in the targeted disease, type of vaccine, vaccine product or manufacturer will be compatible with the values provided for in the World Health Organisation’s "COVID-19 vaccine tracker and landscape" and "Value sets for EU Digital COVID Certificates" issued by the European Union.

The issuance of the vaccine passports is applied uniformly across vaccination sites in the country, following three-step procedures, according to the Ministry of Health.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Vietnam has accepted vaccine passports from 78 countries and territories. Australia, Belarus, Japan, the U.K., and the U.S. have accepted Vietnam's vaccine passport, while it is under "consideration" in other countries.
