According to the World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO), tourism and green investment may enhance resilience, accelerate actions against climate change, and deliver inclusive development around the pillars of innovation and entrepreneurship.
“Tourism and green investment” is the theme of World Tourism Day 2023, adapting to the new context.
The choice of the theme “Quang Nam: A Green Tourist Destination” for Vietnam’s tourism year 2022 was an effort Quang Nam made to contribute to the COP-26 green commitment with the goal of bringing emissions to ‘zero’ by 2050.
After a lot of efforts to implement green tourism, Quang Nam was voted as one of Asia’s leading green tourism destinations by Wanderlust.
According to the UNWTO, investment plays an important role in the linkage between the UNWTO’s members, destinations, businesses, and investors.
Tourism is a key economic sector, but investment in green tourism is a rather new concept in Quang Nam.
The local tourism communities have been making every effort to satisfy the provincial criteria for green tourism and develop green tourism with the support of provincial policies and international organisations such as UNESCO and the SSTP (Swiss Sustainable Tourism Programme).
