In late September 2024, the Da Nang People's Committee approved the investment policy for a new project to develop a park, a coastal sports club, and upgrade Son Thuy Beach in Hoa Hai Ward, Ngu Hanh Son District, with a total investment of over VND34.6 billion (US$1.4 million).
The project will be implemented during the 2024-2026 period. Its aim is to meet the material facilities to meet the growing needs of entertainment, recreation, physical education - sports, and sea bathing of local people, and at the same time, serve the activities and training of high-performance athletes in marine sports.
Having a passion and regularly experiencing sports services at local beaches, Mr. Nguyen Nhu Hien, a resident of Cam Le District, said that “Son Thuy Beach is one of the beautiful and potential beaches with fine white sand and clear blue water in the city. However, this beach is not known by many tourists because there are not many facilities and infrastructure for tourism. Hopefully, in the coming time, this place will develop to be worthy of the inherent advantages that nature has bestowed”.
With the project "Orientation for tourism development in Da Nang by 2030 with a vision to 2045", the city is carrying out many projects to synchronise landscape infrastructure, contribute to urban embellishment, and create landscape highlights on key routes for maritime tourism.
Notable among them are the two projects "Investing in landscape renovation, and creating some highlights in the sidewalk and sand areas of Hoang Sa - Vo Nguyen Giap - Truong Sa seaside route" and "Investing in and supplementing infrastructure, renovating landscapes and public utilities to serve the management and exploitation of coastal tourism on Nguyen Tat Thanh Street".
Currently, the Management Board of the Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang Tourism Beaches is tasked with managing all activities at the city's beaches. In the past time, the Management Board has implemented synchronously in the work of planning, management, arrangement of services, technical infrastructure and public utilities. Specifically, the focus has been on investing in infrastructure and public utilities, planting trees to create green coastal carpets, arranging and rearranging service business units, and regularly upgrading service activities at beaches.
Service businesses along local beaches are required to repair and redecorate the business area, improve the quality of professional services, list prices and sell at the listed price. The Management Board also promotes propaganda, recommends regulations, and promotes tourism products through social media channels.
In particular, the Management Board, together with localities and related units, concentrates on ensuring order, safety, and environmental sanitation at tourist destinations in order to build Da Nang into an environmentally friendly city, and a civilised, modern urban area with a safe and friendly tourism environment.

As for rescue work at the beach, rescue stations have been renovated and equipped with additional means such as canoes, rescue surfboards, and safety limit buoy systems. Two hotlines are fixed at two operating stations on the Hoang Sa - Vo Nguyen Giap - Truong Sa and Nguyen Tat Thanh routes, with staff on duty 24/7 to receive and handle feedback from residents and tourists.
In addition to strengthening the supervision of beach cleaning units, the Management Board also regularly calls on the community to join hands to clean and beautify local beaches; raise awareness of residents and tourists about environmental sanitation; promote propaganda through the coastal loudspeaker system; and organise thematic cleaning activities.
Mr. Phan Minh Hai, Deputy Head of the Management Board, acknowledged that up to now, Da Nang's sea tourism products and services have basically met the needs of the people and tourists and have been highly appreciated in a number of criteria such as clean and beautiful environment, high level of security and safety, infrastructure, and guaranteed utilities.
In the coming time, the Management Board will continue to synchronously deploy plans to ensure infrastructure and technology at beaches as well as tourist attractions in the city.
Importance will be attached to implementing the My An Sea Park project and the Man Thai - Tho Quang Community-based Tourism Development Project; upgrading infrastructure of two coastal routes; and supplementing and installing additional exercise equipment and children's games. Accordingly, the city targets to build a "safe - civilized - attractive" beach tourism brand in a bid to lure more domestic and foreign tourists.
