Craftsmen in Thanh Hoa Province are making necessary preparations to cast 100 bronze drums for the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi.
The drums will be made in Dong Tien Commune, Dong Son District and Thanh Hoa City. 32 craftsmen will take part in their making.
They will spend 10 months to finish the drums before August 2010.
Among the 100 bronze drums, 90 drums are 48cm high with a diameter of 90cm, the rest will be 70cm in diameter.
All the drums will be on display during a performance to celebrate the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi on October 10, 2010. The drums will be divided into 10 groups and played by 240 artists.
In addition, Thanh Hoa Province will cast one drum with a diameter of 1m to offer to the steering committee to celebrate the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi.
