A festival to commemorate Princess Huyen Tran and King Tran Nhan Tong opened at Huyen Tran Cultural Centre in the central city of Hue on February 17, the eighth day of the first lunar month.
The two-day festival is being jointly organised by the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Executive Board of Vietnam Buddhist Sangha and Dat Viet Tourism JSC. It attracted thousands of Buddhist monks, nuns and followers, and visitors from all over the country.
After an incense offering ceremony, a broad range of activities took place, including folk games, ancient martial arts, calligraphy and artistic performances.
The festival was held on the occasion of the 673rd anniversary of the death of Princess Huyen Tran, who had devoted much to the nation's expansion southwards.
