(TITC) - On July 22nd 2013, in Ha Noi, the workshop on Training Need Assessment (TNA) in tourism was organized in order to report the outcomes of the survey implemented by international and local experts from April to July 2013.
It is a part of Vocational Education and Training component of "Environmentally and socially responsible tourism capacity development programme" funded by the European Union.
The event attracted the participation of leaders of Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT), VNAT's departments and representatives of provincial departments of Culture, Sports and Tourism, tour operators, hotels, training establishments...
TNA aims to provide updated information of skill requirements and training need of Viet Nam's tourism workforce to contribute to "Viet Nam tourism's human resources strategy''. With the support of VNAT and provincial Culture, Sports and Tourism departments, TNA was done in 63 provinces and cities in which in-depth surveys were implemented in 12 provinces.
After 3 months of survey, EU experts introduced key conclusions of training need of tourism businesses, emerging sectors; training need of tourism administration sector and training establishments.
Speaking at the workshop, Director General of VNAT Nguyen Van Tuan emphasized the importance role of TNA. Viet Nam tourism sector has gained positive achievements but human resource is still a weakness. The result of the survey will be a good resource to contribute to Viet Nam tourism's human resources strategy.
