(TITC) - Located at the Mekong River Delta, Long An Province owns diversified fauna and flora ecosystem and many beautiful tourist sites including Tan Lap Floating Village Eco-tourism Area (Moc Hoa District), Phuoc Loc Tho Tourist Site (Duc Hoa District), Dong Thap Muoi Eco-tourism Site (Tan An City), Thanh Tam Flower Garden (Tan An City), Dong Thap Muoi Pharmaceutical Development and Conservation Research Center (Moc Hoa District)... These are advantageous conditions for the province to develop eco-tourism and link tourism programs to Dong Thap Muoi Area.
In addition, Long An is also rich in relics such as Binh Ta, An Son relics (Duc Hoa District), Vam Nhut Tao Historical Relic (Tan Tru District), Nguyen Huynh Duc Tomb and Temple (Tan An City); Rach Cat Military Post, Hundred-column House (Can Duoc District); Ton Thanh Pagoda (Can Giuoc District); traditional craft villages of mat weaving in Nhut Ninh, An Nhut Tan communes (Tan Tru District), Long Cang, Long Dinh, Phuoc Van, Long Son communes (Can Duoc District); Go Den Wine Village (Ben Luc District), Binh An Drum Village (Can Duoc District)... Especially, Long An also contains massive Oc Eo cultural treasure formed and developed in the Mekong River Delta from the 1st century to the 6th century. Now, nearly 20 prehistoric monuments and 100 Oc Eo cultural relics with 12,000 valuable artifacts were unearthed and collected.
The transport system in Long An is quite convenient with National Highway No.1A going through Tan An City, National Highway No.62 through Binh Hiep Border Gate (Moc Hoa District) to Cambodia, National Highway No.50 from My Tho (Tien Giang Province) through Can Duoc, Can Giuoc districts to Ho Chi Minh City.
With diversified tourism potential, Long An is an attractive destination for tourists. According to statistics, in the first 6 months of 2013, Long An welcomed 283,000 tourist arrivals, up 23% over the same period last year. Tourism revenue in the first 6 months reached 80 billion VND, up 21% over the same period last year.
In order to increase the number of tourists in the coming time, Long An has issued a tourism development strategy which aims to bring the province to become an attractive destination in the South-West region. Accordingly, the province will focus on constructing tourism infrastructure; developing specific cuisine products of Long An (Go Den wine, Dao market rice, Chau Thanh dragon fruit, Long Tri watermelon...); mobilizing culture, cuisine tourisms for organizing night cuisine areas in centers, improving service quality at night markets in Tan An City and districts of Moc Hoa, Duc Hoa, Ben Luc; developing tourism types of ecology, garden, canal; enhancing promotion activities, especially linking activity with countries in the regions of Cambodia, Thailand, Laos… and other localities to diversify tourism products...
Long An actively coordinated with other localities, especially Ho Chi Minh City to exchange experience in management, plan, call of tourism investment, tourism promotion, training of tourism human resources...; promote tourism potentials, create inter-provincial products and tours...
With these efforts, expectedly, Long An tourism will become one of the typical destinations in the Mekong River Delta region.
