"Fishing in Hue" works - grand prize of the photo contest

With its super color reproduction and scratch and fade resistant prints, the large format ImagePROGRAF iPF8000S printer technology from Canon has helped to highlight the beauty of Vietnam’s heritage in a clear, sharp way.

It is fitting that the photos are being displayed at Thang Long Imperial Citadel as it is a hub for traditional and cultural values in Hanoi, and all the images evoke this rich heritage.

Their passion and commitment to preserving cultural heritage cannot be doubted. Many of them climbed mountains or stayed up all night to capture these images. This care and attention to detail can be seen in all the 1,000 amazing photos being exhibited across Vietnam”.

The exhibition is a perfect attraction for Vietnamese Lunar New Year 2014, thus helping to raise awareness about the preservation of cultural heritage in the nation.

Since its launching in June, 2013, the photo contest had attracted the participation of both amateur and professional photographers from all corners of the nation, seeing around 6016 images being submitted for consideration.

For the 100 photos displayed at the exhibition, in the mono-photo category, judges selected “Fishing in Hue” by Nguyen Xuan Huu Tam as the winner of the grand prize and “Going home from market, Sapa” by Nguyen Van Dong as first prize winner. A second prize was given to “Old friends” by Nguyen Luong while a third prize went to “Home – Lao Cai province” by Nguyen Tien Dung.

In the multiple-photo category, first prize was given to “Dong Ky firecracker festival, Bac Ninh province” by Hoang The Nhiem, while second prize was awarded to “Do Son buffalo fight festival” by Nguyen Viet Rung.

These two series displayed the full vivid color of Vietnam’s traditional regional festivals. The event is a part of series activities to welcome the ninth Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day under the theme “Green heritage culture and tourism week, meeting place of people and nature (November 23).

The exhibition will warp up on February 28, 2014.
