ASEAN ministers of culture, arts meet in Hue

ASEAN Ministers responsible for Culture and Arts are gathering at their 6th conference (AMCA 6) in Hue city, the central province of Thua Thien-Hue, from April 17-20, to discuss measures to boost cooperation in the field among the regional countries.

At the Foreign Ministry’s regular press conference in Hanoi on April 17, spokesperson of the ministry Le Hai Binh said AMCA+3 (with China , Japan and the Republic of Korea ) and AMCA+1 (with each of the three dialogue partners) will also be held during this time.

AMCA 6 is expected to issue the Hue City Declaration on Culture for the sustainable development of the ASEAN Community. Meanwhile, the meeting between ASEAN and China will approve an action plan on cultural and arts collaboration between 2014 and 2016, he noted.

As for the 60th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory, the Foreign Ministry and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will work with the People’s Committees of northwestern provinces to organise a conference on developing tourism in the region and a meeting with diplomatic corps in Dien Bien province from May 5-7.

The functions aim to advertise the region’s potential and attract investment to local tourism, Binh said.
