“Viet Nam’s Sea and Island Week 2014” – “Together we protect blue ocean”

(TITC) - Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment coordinates with relevant ministries and local authorities to hold “Viet Nam’s Sea and Island Week 2014” which will take place from June 1 - 8 in response to World Environment Day (June 5) and World Oceans Day (June 8).

“Viet Nam’s Sea and Island Week 2014” is organized with responsive activities launched nationwide, especially in 28 coastal cities and provinces with theme “Together we protect blue ocean” in accordance with the theme of World Environment Day 2013-2014 “Together we have power to protect the ocean”.

In the framework of this celebration, many national level activities and events will be organized in Hai Phong City on June 6-7 such as: 6th Forum on “Viet Nam’s Sea brand with international integration” organized in Hai Au hotel, Do Son District on June 6, 2014; A meeting to celebrate World Ocean Day and “Viet Nam’s Sea and Island Week 2014” at Do Son beach which will be live broadcast on June 7, 2014; and Launching Ceremony of young volunteers to clean environment at beaches and bike parade at Do Son beach.

“Viet Nam Sea and Island Week 2014” is an event of national and international significance contributing to the sustainable development and protection of sovereignty of Viet Nam’s waters and islands and calling for solidarity in protecting ocean through suitable activities: Cleaning beach and coastal ecology; Launching cultural – social movements to change awareness and habit of community in environment protection; hanging banners, posters on main streets, work offices, etc.
