The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism co-ordinated with the Quang Ninh provincial People's Committee and the Sai Gon Travel Service Company (Saigontourist) to welcome the Malaysian five-star cruise liner SuperStar Virgo to Ha Long Bay on June 3.
The nearly 2,600 foreign tourists and crew on board - who hail mostly from Macau, Hong Kong and Taiwan (China) - took a boat cruise to discover the world natural heritage site and visit a fishing village to learn about local life.
The visit to Viet Nam is part of co-operation between the Saigontourist Holding Company and the liner’s owner, Star Cruises, which is the third-largest cruise operator in the world.
Welcoming the guests, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ho Anh Tuan said Viet Nam is an ideal destination for global tourists, whose safety is always ensured by the Government.
He also asked Quang Ninh province to step up efforts to ensure security, improve services and attract more foreign tourists.
