(TITC) - According to Thua Thien Hue Province’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, total provincial tourism receipts in the first 6 months of 2014 estimated VND1,525 billion, increasing by 21.8% over the same period of 2013. Of which, the receipts from international tourists occupies around 63.5%.
The province welcomed approximately 1.57 million arrivals including 1.04 million tourists staying overnight (413,000 international tourists), up 13.1% compared to the same period last year.
In particular, the number of tourists to Hue Festival 2014 reached 220,000 arrivals, increasing 25% over last Festival with more than 100,000 int’l arrivals coming from 115 countries and territories. Tourism receipts reached about VND150 billion.
This year, Thua Thien Hue is striving for the target of receiving 2.8 – 3 million tourist arrivals including 1.2 – 1.3 million international arrivals and tourism receipts increasing by 16 – 18% over 2013.
To reach the target, in the last 6 months of 2014, the tourism industry will focus on developing various types of tourism products such as leisure tourism, adventurous sport tourism, lagoon tourism, shopping tourism combining with high quality entertainment services.
