Tourism Stimulation Program 2015 in Hoi An (Quang Nam)

(TITC) - Rich in revolutionary tradition and diversified culture values, Hoi An appears as an ancient picture but lively.

To promote the city’s tourism potential and continue past year’s success, Hoi An City (Quang Nam) organizes Tourism Stimulation Program 2015 named “Hoi An Impression”.

The program includes various exciting activities, focusing on 3 main periods, including Lunar New Year Festival; Nguyen Tieu Festival with the theme “Spring tour in Hoi An”; and the summer activities (Apr 28 – Aug 30) with the theme “Impression of Hoi An – Cu Lao Cham” to celebrate 40 years of National Reunification Day (Apr 30, 1975 – Apr 30, 2015), 129 years of International Labour Day (May 1, 1886 – May 1, 2015), 6 years of Cu Lao Cham’s recognition as World Biosphere Reserve (May 29, 2009 – May 29, 2015), 55 years of Viet Nam Tourism Industry (Jul 9, 1960 – Jul 9, 2015). In addition, from Nov 23, 2015 to Jan 1, 2016, numerous activities will be held, including the 70th anniversary of Viet Nam Cultural Heritage Day (Nov 23, 2005 – Nov 23, 2015), the 16th anniversary of Hoi An’s recognition as World Cultural Heritage (Dec 4, 1999 – Dec 4, 2015); Merry Christmas and  New Year Celebration 2016 with the theme “Celebrating Tet in Hoi An heritage”…

Along with tourism stimulation activities, Hoi An City continues organizing “Hoi An Ancient Town Night” twice a month; “Cu Lao Cham Night” every Saturdays; Hoi An Street Food Festival every Friday nights…

For the program’s success, besides enhancing tourism promotion activities and improving product quality, Hoi An promulgates policies to aid tourism enterprises in supply of promotion programs such as offering service packages (equivalent to 30% of room price) for overnight visitors (sauna, spa, tennis, drinks), free lunch and dinner buffets or offering additional-value room services; restaurants and shopping venues operate 10-30% discount program…; tour operators sell tours at the listed price, provide tours with reasonable prices, along with preferential policies or promotion packages for customers.

Besides, the city also recommends tourism enterprises to actively engage in Hoi An tourism promotion events, as well as facilitates for tourism enterprises to build new tourism products and services, co-operate with partnerships to operate events, improve service quality. In short term, the city will improve the plan in selling and controlling tickets in the ancient town; focus on improving professional qualification, behavior and communication skills of ticket officers; enhance environment protection and service quality assessment, and publish via mass media the list of enterprises that violate service requirements or not sell at listed price.

The tourism stimulation program 2015 will help Hoi An to achieve the target of attracting 2 million tourist arrivals in 2015, including over 950,000 domestic tourism trips and 1 million international arrivals.

Located at the downstream junction of Thu Bon River, belongs to the coastal plain of Quang Nam Province, Hoi An City has 13 communes, including Tan Hiep Island Commune. Hoi An has 7km coastline with beautiful beaches, of which Cua Dai is one of the most famous beaches.

From the 16th to 19th centuries, Hoi An was an international trade centre in East – West commercial journey. Merchant ships from Japan, China, Portugal, Spain, Netherlands... came here to exchange, purchase and sell goods. In the history of formation and development, Hoi An is known for many different names, popularly Faifo, Haisfo, Hoai Pho, Ketchem, Cotam.

The buildings in Hoi An (old houses, assembly halls, temples, pagodas, family churches, markets, bridges, wells, the harbor and the narrow roads running along the horizontal squares forming the chessboard style), the traditional villages (Kim Bong Carpentry, Thanh Ha Pottery, Ban Thach Mat, Phuoc Kieu Bronze Casting, Tra Que Vegetable ...), festivals and traditional cuisine kept almost intactly have proven that Hoi An is the interference place of many cultures such as Cham, Vietnamese, Chinese, Japanese ...

With diversified cultural treasures, Hoi An was recognized as a World Cultural Heritage Site in 1999 by UNESCO.
