National Tourism Year 2016 to focus on exploring Southern land

The National Tourism Year 2016 named 'Visit Viet Nam Year 2016 - Phu Quoc - Mekong Delta' will focus on exploring the South, according to the Decision No.3050/QĐ-BVHTTDL on the National Tourism Year 2016 recently issued by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Phu Quoc Island (Kien Giang Province)

Under the decision, main national and international tourism activities will be held in Kien Giang and other Mekong Delta provinces in addition to Ha Noi, Thua Thien-Hue, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho, Long An, Dong Thap, An Giang, Ca Mau, Bac Lieu, Soc Trang, Vinh Long, Tra Vinh, Tien Giang, Hau Giang and Ben Tre.

According to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the National Tourism Year 2016 is an important cultural, economic and social event, helping to raise the awareness of the entire society of tourism development aligned with the protection of sea and island resources.

The event will also contribute to promoting intangible and tangible cultural values and distinguish the tourism products of Kien Giang province and other localities to attract more domestic and international tourists.

The ministry asked for a comprehensive co-ordination between relevant sectors and agencies at all levels to organise an effective tourism year and avoid wastefulness.
