City’s tourism expected to gain VND 40 trillion this year

The tourism industry of HCMC is expected to gain VND40 trillion in revenues and attract three million foreign guests this year, said La Quoc Khanh, deputy director of the HCMC Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

“As the economies of some countries are becoming better and tourism in the city is seen developing fast, the number of international arrivals will go up by 12% and domestic tourists will increase by 18%,” Khanh said.

Therefore, the turnover of the tourism sector will rise strongly, Khanh explained to the Daily on Wednesday during the preparation for the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam tourism sector which will take place in the city to day.

From the year 2000, the number of tourists going to HCMC increases 20% per year on average, and the turnover rises 18% year-on-year.
