Final round of the National Hotel Front Desk Competition 2010

On September 15, the final round of the National Hotel Front Desk Competition 2010 has taken place at the Au Co Art Center, Ha Noi.

Attending the ceremony were the presence of Mr. Tran Chien Thang - Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MOCST), Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan - Director General of the Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT), Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong - Deputy Director General of the VNAT, together representatives of departments of MOCST, VNAT, Tourism Departments of cities and provinces, tourism-related businesses, hotels, students from tourism-related universities, colleges and schools and the news agencies and newspapers.

 

Mr. Tran Chien Thang - Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism awarded the first prize for Quan Tieu My.

 

Addressing at the opening of final round, Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan has confirmed that the National Hotel Front Desk Competition is the opportunity for hotel front desk staff throughout the country to improve the knowledge, professional skills, to meet, exchange, and inquire experience to develop their proficiency, creating competition atmosphere among units in the tourism industry. This is a milestone to celebrate the anniversaries of 1000 years of Thang Long - Ha Noi, 50 years of Viet Nam Tourism and the National Tourism Year in Ha Noi.

At the final round, contestants have shown confident professional skills, extensive knowledge, and ability of flexible behave, reflected the spirit of job-loving and enthusiasm for hotel front desk job in particular, and tourism activities in general.

 

After the anxious and interesting exams, the board of examiners has been working with high responsibility to choose outstanding faces to award.

On behalf of the board of examiners, Ms. Nguyen Phuong Anh – Acting Deputy Director of Hotel Department – VNAT has praised the efforts of the contestants, the cities and provinces which have participated in the competition, especially those where tourism has not developed, highly appreciate the interest of companies, hotels, Culture, Sports and Tourism Departments of cities and provinces. The competition is not only the chance to exchange and encourage the hotel front desk staff but also is the chance for units in the tourism industry to learn from experience in management as well as professional skills.

 

Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong - Deputy Director General of the VNAT and  Ms. Do Thi Hong Xoan - President of Viet Nam Hotel Association with the third prize awardees.

 

Closing the competition, Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan once again has identified that the competition has made the goals of honoring the hotel front desk job, creating learning opportunities, and exchanging experience between the units in the tourism sector. This continued mark, confirm and demonstrate the level of Viet Nam tourism development in 50 years of building and growing. At the same time, he believed that force of hotel front desk staff and tour guide will develop incessantly. They are the link connect tourists and local culture, contributing to the growth of the staff work in  Viet Nam tourism industry, strengthen understanding between nations and friendship between peoples. The General Director has suggested that localities and businesses should make to the result from this competition be promoted and spread, contributing to improve the quality of service in the hotel systems nationwide.

6. Ms. Giang Hue Lam - Ngoc Lan Hotel, Ho Chi Minh City

 
In addition, the organizers also awarded 20 consolation prizes and a number of additional prizes for contestants.

 

The three stories: A kind receptionist (Lam Son Oil Services Quarter - OSC Viet Nam, Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province); A cozy house (Ngoc Lan Hotel - Ho Chi Minh City); and A daughter-in-law of hundred families (Da Huong Hotel - Thai Nguyen Province) won the first, second, and third prize respectively in the contest of presenting stories whose the content related to specialist skills of hotel front desk.

 

The Culture, Sports and Tourism Department of Ho Chi Minh City has been awarded prize of having the greatest number of awardees in the competition.
