Update: Jan 20, 2011
The Vietnam-based office of Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board will organize many events this year to promote tourism products to Vietnamese tourists, said the office director.

Mohd Akbal Setia, Director of Tourism Malaysia in Vietnam, told at a meeting with media on January 17 in HCMC that several attractive events would be held in Malaysia in the next few months for tourists.

These include a mega sale carnival, the Putrajaya flowers and gardens festival, and health tourism, adventure, eco-tourism, and golf tourism products, he said.

Malaysia’s Tourism Promotion Board will also host fairs and exhibitions, road shows, seminars and workshops in Vietnam to promote the ASEAN country’s tourism destinations, said Mohd Akbal Setia, adding “Vietnam is a potential market to Malaysia’s tourism.”

These include Malaysia Travel Mart to be organized in Hanoi, HCMC, Danang, and Can Tho in March and April, and Malaysia Week to take place in HCMC and Hanoi in May to promote Malaysia’s food, culture, tourism, education and trade.

Every week there are 68 direct flights provided by Malaysia Airlines, Vietnam Airlines and AirAsia from Hanoi and HCMC to Kuala Lumpur.
