A conference on training human resources for tourism in the midland and mountainous areas of the northern region was held in Thai Nguyen Province on March 23.
Participants at the conference agreed there are three burning issues that must be addressed in order to boost tourism development in the region. They include facilities, regulations and human resources for the industry and top priority should be given to developing human resource.
According to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, the midland and mountain area of the northern region is one of the country’s seven major tourism regions with great potential and abundant scenery and historical relics.
However, tourism has developed far below its potential mainly because the human resources do not meet the sector’s demand.
Currently, there are nearly 39,000 people working in tourism in the region but only 25,000 have been properly trained.
