Ho Chi Minh City to host 2025 Vietnam Film Festival this November
Update: Aug 07, 2025
The 24th Vietnam Film Festival is scheduled to take place in Ho Chi Minh City from November 21 to 25, aiming to honour outstanding cinematic works and artists that have made significant contributions to the country’s film industry.

The 23rd Vietnam Film Festival is held in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong

This year’s festival not only celebrates films that reflect strong national identity and humanistic values, and honours exceptional filmmakers and actors, but also seeks to promote the growth of a modern, professional, and globally integrated film market.

The festival will feature four categories: feature films, documentaries, scientific films, and animated films. Eligible entries must be Vietnamese-language productions, made by domestic studios or in collaboration with international partners.

Submitted films must not have previously participated in the Vietnam Film Festival or the National Television Festival, and must be free of copyright disputes. For films adapted from foreign scripts, the festival will only consider individual awards, and will not present awards for the film as a whole or for screenplay authorship.

The film festival is expected to elevate the status of Vietnamese cinema moving into the new era. Indeed, it represents an opportunity for the southern metropolis to demonstrate its transformation into an economic and cultural hub, particularly since the city joined the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in the field of film.
