Knuth Kiefer (C), general manager for Mövenpick Hotels and Resorts Vietnam, introduces the third charity golf tournament in HCMC on Tuesday |
Some 140 players, who are regional executives, diplomats, and expatriates living in Vietnam, will vie for the trophy of the golf tournament that will take place at Song Be Golf Resort in the southern province of Binh Duong.
The organizer says all proceeds after the event will benefit KOTO as a vocational training center for street and disadvantaged youth, and Heartbeat Vietnam, a lifesaving fund for poor children with heart defects in the country.
Knuth Kiefer, general manager for Mövenpick Hotels and Resorts Vietnam, told a news briefing on Tuesday that the number of companies supporting the golf tournament was growing each year since the first event in 2009.
“We are glad to see such enthusiasm, not only from the players but also corporate sponsors,†Kiefer said.
Apart from competing for prizes of “Nearest to the pin†and “Longest driveâ€, players will have a chance to receive a BMW X1 sedan and other rewards once they are lucky enough to be the winner of the Hole-in-one prize.
The tournament’s main sponsor Vinaliving, a property development brand of VinaCapital, says funds will also be raised through a raffle that will take place during the award dinner organized on the same day at the hotel.
The Mövenpick Hotel Saigon and the Mövenpick Hotel Hanoi had organized the first two tournaments in Hanoi and northern areas in the country, raising some US$7,000 to support unlucky children.
