Lao Cai province greeted 632,000 tourist arrivals in the first six months of 2011, up 32 percent year-on-year, according to Lao Cai Department of Culture, Sport and Tourism.
Of this figure, more than 337,000 domestic tourists came Lao Cai, a year-on-year increase of 25 percent, and nearly 295,000 international visitors, up 50 percent against the same period last year.
Over the past six months, Sa Pa district attracted 245,000 visitors, reaching 44.7 percent of the year’s plan, while more than 48,000 foreign tourists came to Sa Pa.
Total tourism revenue of the province reached nearly VND 890 billion in the first six months, reaching 99 percent of the year’s plan and an increase of 105 percent compared to the same period last year.
To achieve these results, Lao Cai implemented various measures to promote and develop the potential and strengths of local tourism.
