First Mong panpipe festival opens in Ha Giang

The first Mong pan pipes festival, the biggest of its kind in Vietnam, opened in the Dong Van Stone Plateau on August 21 to mark the 120th founding anniversary of the northernmost province of Ha Giang.

During the two-day festival, audiences had the chance to enjoy traditional pan pipes music through a variety of performances including the Legend of Pan pipes, Melody of a New Day and Dancing to the Sound of Pan pipes.

Sen Chin Ly, Vice Chairman of the Ha Giang provincial People’s Committee, said the festival featured the natural beauty of the plateau and the simplicity of Mong ethnic people.

Also at the festival, the organizing board announced a Vietnamese Guinness record for the largest Mong pan pipes instrument.
