Number of foreign tourists to HCMC surges

Over the past eight months, Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) has greeted nearly 2.12 million foreign tourists. The figure represents a year-on-year increase of 10 percent and fulfills 60 percent of the year's target, said the city's Department of Culture, Sport and Tourism.

Total tourism turnover in the first eight months of the year reached an estimated VND 29.9 trillion, rising by 23 percent year-on-year and fulfilling 61 percent of the year's target.

In August, the number of foreign tourists to HCMC was estimated at 264,000, a year-on-year increase of 10 percent. Of this, the number who arrived via air was 210,000, up 10 percent from last year.

The city People's Committee is currently coordinating with the city's Department of Culture, Sport and Tourism and the Department of Industry and Trade to organise the programme: "September – the promotional month” to stimulate social consumption and attract both domestic and foreign tourists to visit and buy in the city.
