Programme highlights for the event include comedy performances and the lantern parade. These celebratory events will also run in conjunction with many community activities such as paying tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum; visiting Uncle Ho’s Stilt House; visiting Ho Chi Minh Museum and the Vietnam Military History Museum; meeting the leaders of the Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs and the Vietnam Association of Child Rights Protection; and making friends with the small reporters club.

The organisers hope to attract over 1000 children from Hanoi and 80 children whose parents are on duty at island borders, in Truong Sa district or other coastal areas.

Besides the 80 scholarships and gifts State President Truong Tan Sang will give to 80 children in the programme, the organisation will mobilise 1,000 scholarships for disadvantaged students who are children of soldiers on duty at island borders; mobilising the funds to support the construction of public works for children on the islands and borders, thus contributing to improving children’s lives.

According to the organising board, the activity aims to create a traditional playground for children. Thereby, fostering love for the homeland among children and making them proud of Vietnam Island-Seas.

It is hoped that the programme will produce a deep thankfulness for those soldiers who have been bravely defending the sovereignty of the islands and borders of the country, sharing the sentiment of love with these people and those are living in island and borders.
