Through 28 paintings on silk, artist Ngoc Mai has told the stories of the featured characters of the epic poem Truyen Kieu (The Tale of Kieu), and gave the viewer an insight into Kieu’s up-and-down life.

The pieces are the result of 12 years of hard work for the artist who has depicted a beautiful and talented young woman who is nevertheless stricken with the cruel fate of her love.
Mai said: "My paintings are not illustrations for "The Tale of Kieu", instead they represent my own emotions before Kieu’s cruel fate. I want the viewers to get these feelings with their own vibe".
The paintings can be seen at the Ho Chi Minh City Exhibition House, 92 Le Thanh Ton St, District 1.
