National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines announced yesterday that it will increase its domestic airfares by 15-20% from December 15, following the Ministry of Finance’s new price ceiling on domestic routes.

The price for domestic airline tickets on high-demand routes between Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Nang will increase by 15%, while airfares on short distance routes will rise by 20%.
Under the new adjustment, the carrier will offer ten different price levels for domestic flights.
The price changes will help the airlines avoid losses and gradually build up a flexible airfare system for domestic flights based on supply and demand to better serve its customers.
