The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has proposed localities and organizations to collect ideas from experts and relevant agencies to make a list of 12 intangible cultural heritages to submit to UNESCO in the 2012-2016 period

This activity aims to preserve, promote and glorify values of cultural heritage at the international level, contributing to popularizing the national image and attracting tourists.
The Prime Minister permitted the making of 12 proposals to submit to UNESCO. They are the oral art of the Central Highland epics, water puppetry in the northern river delta, singing art in the central provinces of Nghe An and Ha Tinh, the art of pottery making by Cham ethnic people, the art of dance of Thai ethnic people in Vietnam, the art of making Dong Ho folklore painting, and several arts of ethnic groups in Vietnam.
