Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan has asked the Than Hoa People’s Committee to coordinate with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to make a national-level plan to preserve and promote the value of the world heritage site Ho Dynasty Citadel and surrounding relics in Vinh Loc district, Thanh Hoa province.

The planning scheme must be commented on by relevant agencies before being submitting to the Prime Minister for approval.
In 2011, the Citadel of the Ho Dynasty was recognized as a World Cultural Heritage site by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
Located in two communes in Vinh Loc district, Thanh Hoa province, the citadel was built in 1397 by King Ho Quy Ly.
Unlike many other citadels that were built with bricks, the Ho Dynasty Citadel was built with huge stone slabs sourced from nearby mountains. It features four arched entrances facing the four points of the compass.
