A book entitled “Traces of Indian Culture in Vietnam†by Indian professor Professor Geetesh Sharma made its debut in Hanoi on May 23rd.

The presentation ceremony was held by the Indian Embassy, the Vietnam-India Friendship Association and the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO), to mark the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and India.
Addressing the event, Indian Ambassador to Vietnam Ranjit Rae highlighted the fine development of bilateral ties. He said that the launch of the book is part of activities to mark the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Ambassador Rae said Vietnam plays an important role in India’s Look East policy, and India is keen to invest more in the Vietnamese market.
In his 180-page book, Sharma emphasised that strong relations between India and Vietnam have existed for 2000 years.
Born in 1932 in Bihar state in India, Sharma is president of the India Vietnam Solidarity Committee of West Bengal. He has taken part in a number of activities to help Vietnamese people, both during their resistance for national independence and in the development of the country after the war. He has promoted the exchange of cultural and trade delegations between India and Vietnam over the last years.
