The northern province of Quang Ninh greeted nearly 735,000 tourist arrivals in May, bringing the total figure for the first five months to over 4.77 million arrivals, 62% of the year’s plan or a year-on-year rise of 12%, reported the Quang Ninh provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Of this, foreign arrivals reached 1.15 million, a 4% increase over a year earlier and tourist arrivals staying overnight were over 1.65 million, also a 4% rise against the same period last year.
Total tourism turnover in the five months hit VND2.72 trillion, 41.9% of the year’s plan or a year-on-year increase 21%.
The result came from the province’s successfully organising the Ha Long-Quang Ninh Tourism Week 2015 with a series of significant activities and programs, especially the Ha Long carnival.
