Sa Pa Culture Tourism Week 2014

(TITC) - Sa Pa Culture Tourism Week 2014 will be held in Sa Pa Town, Lao Cai Province from 29 April to 4 May 2014 to promote the unique values of Sa Pa.

In the framework of Sa Pa Culture Tourism Week 2014, many attractive activities will take place such as performance of folk songs and dances, unique folk games of ethnic minority people in Ham Rong Mountain Ecotourism Area (Sa Pa Town); “One day to become highland’s farmers” tour (Ta Phin Commune); Mong People Cultural Festival in Cat Cat Village (San Sa Ho Commune); Cap Sac Rite of Red Dao people; display of ornamental plants and local cultural products in Sa Pa Central Park…

This year’s Sa Pa Culture Tourism Week coincides with the holidays of 30 April – 1 May, so the number of domestic tourists to Sa Pa and Lao Cai is expected to accelerate. For the success of this event, People’s Committee of Sa Pa District directed the units to prepare accommodation facilities to serve tourists; at the same time enhance the propagation and promotion of the cultural week on the mass media to attract more tourists to Sa Pa.

In 2013, the total number of tourists to Lao Cai reached over 1.2 million arrivals, up 32.9% compared with 2012; of which the number of international tourists was nearly 553,000 arrivals, up 47.1%; domestic tourism trips reached 700,000, up 23.5 %; tourism receipts was nearly VND 2,550 billion, an increase of 38.1% over the same period in 2012. The successful organizations of Sa Pa Culture Tourism Week and many other events such as Bac Ha Culture Tourism Week, Thuong Temple Spring Festival, Bao Ha Temple Festival..., Lao Cai Province is expected to record 1.5 million tourist arrivals and tourism receipts of VND 2,850 billion in 2014.
