Local authorities of the Phu Quy island district in the central province of Binh Thuan have spared no effort in promoting local tourism.
In the past, tourists spent a lot traveling from Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) to Phu Quy Island off mainland Binh Thuan Province on the south-central coast. Now they need around VND1 million (US$45) each for a perfect two-day weekend trip to this exotic island.
Visitors to Phu Quy Island can’t miss Van An Thanh temple, one of the two famous temples to the Whale God in Binh Thuan province.
A tourist route linking Ha Noi, Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Thuan and Phu Quy Island is likely under development following a familiarisation trip for tour operators and related media experts to the south central coastal province of Binh Thuan from May 28-31.
Lying in central Viet Nam, about 103km from Phan Thiet city, Phu Quy district is an ideal tourist destination for holiday-makers as it houses 10 small islands, with Phu Quy Island being the biggest in pristine condition.
